Combat Jump Shots » Fun Things to Do On A Boring Weekend

Lying on my room reading e-book and eating pancit canton -- this is what I usually do during weekend and I realized how boring it really is behind my dusty gray walled cube. Though sometimes it is really nice to just lie on my bed, surf the net and sleep the whole day after a hell week at work, still it is awesome to spend the weekend outside kicking my lazy butt on a sunny day.

This half of January has been a crazy whirlwind of a little good and a whole lot of bad at work and everything else. Most working days, I wish I could just have that provincial mundane life everyone complains about – you know, the oh so slow days in the province with ricefields and mountains.

I’m trying to make a point here, alright – that most of our weekend is boring. But enough of my senseless nostalgic rants.

I did go to Antipolo last week at one of our crew’s crib. A friend invited me to tag along for the dinner invitation. Technically I’m gatecrashing on that Friday dinner, but what the heck, that’s the whole point of fun ayt? Dinner was filled with awesome food, booze and small talk. We stayed overnight then hmmm, what else has happened? NONE. The booze didn’t hit the right synapse so we end up normal.

But hey, we didn’t go this far, on this mountainous city just to spend another boring weekend. It’s a good thing Aldan got his DSLR. As you may have notice on this blog, me and my friends are certified camwhores.

We decided to go out and take a little out of the box jump shots. We want to look at some ways to break out of the mold and take striking photos by breaking (or at least trying to change) the pa-cute photo shoots we usually had and adding a little randomness into our jump shots.

This is how we break our supposed-to-be boring weekend.Hiyaaaaa!!!

Yodz and Bernard initial fight

See what a little posing can do for your jump shot?
Lady Gara and her magic toothpick fighting against Bernard
More of like Pandango dancing than fighting...
You cannot kill me guys!!! I am Master Yodi!
Another Pandango-sa-ilaw fighting technique from Lady Gara and Bern
I said you cannot defeat Master Yodi!!!
Nice try Evil Anjho! Let's fight till the end.. Hiyaaaa!!!
This is my favorite shot - with facial expression and a cool combat pose. Nice!
In the end, we will all go to Heaven....

We were all amazed by the result of our quick photo shoot - it was surprising and quite funny. This look like a bit silly but that's the point of having fun ayt?

If you’ve got your own special jump shot, I ask that you post a link to it or post it here on my comment section.

May you always have great weekend guys!!!

What to Do with Your Random Photos

We love taking pictures – it is a fact. During events like company outing, anniversary, or just a simple dining out with friends, it is our habit to take random photos – for Facebook, for Friendster (I think this site is already dead), for fun, or simply just to kill boredom.

Over time, these photos eat up a lot of our pc’s disk space, so from time to time, we take time to delete those not-worth-saving pics (but most of the time, they are all worth saving.)

During one of my bored to death weekend – that means no internet due to some software glitch, no date and broke – I randomly browse old photos, to at least lessen my weekend frustration and also to free up some disk space.

I came across these old photos and got an idea of making comic strips out of it. I realized these photos are so funny and random, you can make funny or tragic stories out it. I put the photos in sequence depending on my storyboard, included some text, background music and compile it using Windows Movie Maker.

Here are the results:
Clip Title: Ang Trahedya sa Lagos – (The Lagos del Sol Tragedy)
We took these photos during our company outing in Lagos del Sol Resort in Laguna along Caliraya Lake.

Clip Title : Pinoy Big Sister House
Barkada gig in one of our office mate's house in Cavite.

Clip Title: The Adventures of Baby Gaia
Baby Gaia is the daughter of one of my officemate.

Warning:Browsing Yahoo Answers can cause Semi-Deep Thoughts Syndrome

To kill my terrible boredom today, I tried searching for some weird stuff using google but it’s just returning junk search results – maybe because I was searching for weird stuff.

Then this question caught my attention “Are there any blind optometrists? Can I sell fire extinguishers in hell?” – It caught my attention because I’m the one who posted this question in Yahoo Answers during one of my bored-to-death-days.

Yes, I admit, I am guilty of posting crazy questions in Yahoo Answers – because I get crazy answers and it’s fun. To my surprise, I am not the only one doing this. Yahoo Answers has lots of unanswerable, nonsensical, illogical yet funny questions.

While browsing I came across these probing questions, which makes me smile:

WARNING:You should not attempt to do scientific research to answer these questions - semi-deep thoughts syndrome can cause silliness!
  • What do we say to God when he sneezes?
  • How many Americans are currently frozen in the hope of one day coming back to life?
  • What is the percentage of nuts do squirrels lose because they forget where they put them?
  • Why do frogs keep trying to cross the road after seeing what happened to their buddies when they tried?
  • Where does the fat go when someone loses 30 lbs?
  • In what type of container is Styrofoam shipped?
  • Who hears the Pope confession?
  • Did bald eagles ever have hair?
  • Why did Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
  • Is there a split between mind and body, and, if so, which is better to have?
After reading these questions I felt this semi-deep thoughts swirling in my head - I actually like it because it effectively killed my boredom.

Any answer to these questions?
Any probing question you want to share in the comments section?

How to kill fastfood boredom while waiting for the liars

Fastfoods are everywhere in the metro and oftentimes it becomes the favorite meeting place or a place to stay while waiting for somebody. Of course you have to order something while waiting – or else you will look like a “patay-gutom” (totally broke professional) or you will get that get-out-of-here look from the guard.

Most of the time the long wait is oh-so-deadly boring. Most people are so insensitive and don’t even respect other people’s time. These people are liars – saying “Just stay there, I’m on my way” while in fact they just get up from bed.

I admire those who can just stare blankly at nothing while waiting, like a psychotic addict who can see dead people. But I can’t do that, I have to do something.

Here are the things I do to kill boredom at a fastfood while waiting for those liars:

  • Forward text messages (the forward-this-or-you-will-die type), quotes and jokes to my contacts – I love annoying them.
  • Escape the noise by turning my ipod full volume – and swing my head like that silly puppy in a car dashboard. (in jeepneys it is often place beside that gold feng-shui cat, forever waving. – I hate those stuff.)
  • Make an ice barbeque – place all those remaining ice tubes on the straw, hang it between cups and watch it melt.
  • Play straw pop -  trap the air at the center of the straw by simultaneously rolling both ends and let your friend pop it. (maybe I should make a video sometime)
  • And of course the classic – Play-with-the-leftovers. Like the following pictures. I admire the one who made this:
